Mail and Text Scams
We are aware of recent email that appear to be sent from Fr. Mark asking for assistance. These emails are NOT from Fr. Mark and are a scam. Please do not respond to these messages.
One common example reads:
Can I run something by you? I'd like to have a word via email.
In Christ,
Rev. Mark C. Arnzen
Pastor
Other signs that an email or text may be a scam include:
- Requests for money, gift cards, or personal assistance under urgent or confidential circumstances.
- Messages claiming the sender cannot take calls and asks for responses via text or email only.
- Spelling or grammar errors, or language that feels generic or unusual for the person it claims to be from.
- Email addresses or phone numbers that do not match the official contact information of Fr. Mark, the church, or parish staff.
We urge everyone to exercise caution when responding to any unsolicited messages. Please know that Fr. Mark, Fr. Ryan, Fr. Ukeme, or any parish and school staff would NEVER request gift cards, cash, or other financial assistance via email or text.
If you receive a suspicious message or have concerns, please contact the parish office at 408-296-3000 to verify its authenticity.
